Liz Hyde, PE, LEED AP – President
As President of Hyde Engineering, a certified woman-owned DBE, Liz manages all aspects of project management including design, cost estimation, construction administration, proposals, survey analysis and much more. She earned her bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 1983 and her master’s in Civil Engineering from UAB in 2009. She founded Hyde Engineering in 1995, and during her career she has designed, managed, and/or coordinated more than 2000 projects ranging from small renovations to new multi-building complexes. She was recently appointed by the Governor of Alabama to serve as a member of the Alabama Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and is the current president of the UAB Engineering Advisory Council. Other society memberships include: ACEC, NFPA, IES, SBCCI, IEEE, and ICC.
Russell T. “Rusty” Hyde, P.E. – Senior Engineer
Rusty joined Hyde Engineering in 1996 as Chief Engineer. He manages all aspects of the project process, including interfacing between the client, vendor, design professionals, and construction teams. He ensures that all technical objectives and budget guidelines are met and provided according to schedule. Rusty earned his bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 1983 and earned his master’s in Electrical Engineering from UAB in 2007. Prior to his joining the firm Rusty served as a navigator in the United States Air Force. During his 18 years of progressive electrical engineering experience Rusty has managed more than 1000 projects ranging from small renovations to new facility construction. He specializes in the areas of security, fire alarms, data/voice and computer systems for institutional, scientific, and technical facilities.
David Morrow – Senior Electrical Designer
As senior electrical designer for Hyde, David manages the entire project process including interface between the client, vendor, design professional and the construction team. He has more than 30 years experience in designing electrical systems for institutional and commercial facilities. Projects include office buildings, hospitals, educational facilities, banks, museums, athletic facilities single and multi-level retail centers, government and criminal justice facilities.
Hannah Payne – Electrical Designer
Hannah joined Hyde Engineering in 2011 as an electrical designer. She has a bachelor’s in Polymer and Fiber Engineering from Auburn University (2011) and a Master’s in Engineering from UAB (2014). Hannah handles project design, site observations, and client interface. She is an experienced designer and project manager with technical skills in both AutoCAD and REVIT. She plans to sit for the PE exam next year.
Josh Whittle, E.I. – Electrical Designer
Josh joined Hyde Engineering in February of 2017. Josh is a certified Engineer Intern and graduated Cum Laude from Auburn University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He gained a year of construction experience while participating in the Cooperative Education Program at Auburn. Josh also has prior experience in the nuclear industry; he worked on design projects at 6 different nuclear plants across the southeast.
Kerry Pesnell – Senior CAD Operator
Kerry has been with Hyde Engineering for 18 years. He earned his associates degree in Applied Science for Engineering Drafting Technology and has over 20 years of experience in electrical, architectural, mechanical and civil design. Kerry is the company’s go to guy for Micro Station, Versa CAD, Auto CAD and REVIT MEP.
Casey Bonds – CAD Operator/Designer
Casey recently joined Hyde Engineering as a CAD operator and designer. He has more than 18 years experience as a civil draftsmen and designer working on projects based on survey notes, property deeds, tax maps, and field information. Casey specializes in using various computer programs to lay out complicated projects working with the engineer to ensure they meet the needs of the regulating authority. Casey is proficient in the following programs: Micro Station, Versa CAD, Eagle Point, Auto CAD 8, Auto CAD Land Desktop and Auto CAD Civil 3D.
Lisa Hollingsworth – Office Manager
Lisa joined our team as office manager in 2015. Her responsibilities encompass many aspects of our business, including AP/AR, payroll, job tracking and customer service. Her incredible organization skills keep our team running smoothly. Lisa graduated with an Associate’s in Accounting and has earned several other certifications related to office management. She is the friendly voice that our customers hear when calling our office, and she takes great pleasure in making sure they are each taken care of.
Candace Kisner – Electrical Designer
Candace joined our team in 2016 and her primary focus is on lighting, power and fire system design. She is an experienced AutoCAD drafter and designer and earned her bachelor’s in Project Management from ITT Technical Institute (2013) as well as an associate’s degree of Applied Science in Computer Drafting and Design (2008). Candace is a member of the American Design Drafting Association, and is currently studying to get her NICET certification.
Morgan B. Hillis, P.E. – Huntsville Office
Hillis comes to Hyde Engineering from another Huntsville firm where she worked for five years as an electrical engineer. Prior to that, she worked as a project manager for an electrical construction company where she discovered her passion for engineering. She earned her Bachelor’s in Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and also has a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education. She knows the area well and brings experience working with local architects, engineers, and construction firms.
Helen Todd, APR, MEng – Business Development Manager
Helen has more than 18 years communications experience primarily in the areas of healthcare, finance and higher education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in Information Engineering Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (May 2013). She is primarily responsible for marketing and business development with Hyde. Todd earned her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2000 from the profession’s governing organization, the Public Relations Society of America.
