LIZ HYDE, P.E., LEED AP, FIRST WOMAN NAMED TO STATE BOARD OF LICENSURE FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS AND LAND SURVEYORS

Birmingham, AL (May 16, 2014)– Hyde Engineering is pleased to announce that Elisabeth (Liz) Hyde, P.E., LEED AP, has been appointed to the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors by Alabama Governor Robert Bentley.  Hyde is the first woman ever to be appointed to the board.

“Licensure of professional engineers is an important matter in our state and as a practicing business owner I believe I will bring a fresh perspective to the board,” said Liz Hyde, President of Hyde Engineering. “I also want to foster more women to take a leadership role in the engineering profession. Female engineers continue to be smaller in numbers in our profession.”

Hyde was vetted for the board by a committee of her peers led by Dr. David Conner, Professor Emeritus, Chair Emeritus, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She was the top-ranking nominee by the committee based on her more than 27 years of progressive electrical engineering consulting experience.

Hyde earned her bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and master’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has served as chairperson for the Alabama Electronic Security Board of Licensure as appointed by the Governor and is current chair of the UAB Engineering Advisory Board. Hyde is licensed to perform electrical engineering work in 29 different states and recently completed Momentum, Alabama’s premier women’s leadership program.
